Places to Stay

The place shown above (and on the main page) is the venue for the party in the evening - the "Heimvolkshochschule Barendorf" (HVHS), an Adult Eduation Centre in the village. Hopefully most people now have their accommodation finalised, so this page remains mainly as a reference. We had a few problems with the HVHS at one time and found that the Bremer Hof, Seminaris and Bergström also still had rooms. All the rooms we've booked so far have been in the Heimvolkshochschule and the Hotel Bremer Hof.

We found the Hotel Reservation Site, claiming to have cheap rooms at one of the nicer hotels in the centre of town - the Mövenpick/Hotel Bergström. Expedia may have rooms at the Ringhotel Kunsthotel Residenz, near the University. You could also try the Seminaris Hotel at the Hamburg Hotel Guide, handy for the SaLü Swimming Pools. More hotels in town can be found on the 1st Hotel Rates, tourisline and WebTourist sites. Each of these local Hotels can also be viewed at their own sites as below (mainly in German only).

A few of the Hackbarths' neighbours have kindly offered to put up some of our guests. If you're interested please let us know your requirements, and we'll do our best to place you with a local family.

If you're planning to stay in Hamburg itself (about 30 miles away) we would certainly recommend the Dorint Hotel in the City Centre. We stayed there in a suite the night I proposed. It's not cheap, but it's VERY nice!. There's also a Crowne Plaza and an Intercontinental in the city centre. Try Expedia for more options.

Please send us any questions or reservation requests for rooms in the Heimvolkshochschule...
